Some of you probably know this story, maybe some of you don't.
While I was technically alive when this occurred, I was probably in kindergarten.
But I saw Cabrini Green later in life. Scorch marked from apartment fires with boarded windows peppering the exterior.
When I read about it, this was one of it's true legends...and when I hear Democrats defend the crime in DC, I'm reminded of the story of Cabrini Green and the then Mayor of Chicago Jane Byrne.
You can read about Cabrini Green all over the net. It's gone now. Torn down, erased. But in 1981, in an effort to prove Cabrini Greene could be saved from crime and poverty, murder, rape, arson, theft and rampant gang violence, Mayor Byrne vowed to live at Cabrini Green for a year.
With a full security detail of 16, reinforced walls, welded security doors, and specially installed bulletproof glass... the mayor of Chicago made it three weeks before leaving Cabrini Green forever.
It's not that Mayor Byrne didn't have good intentions. It's that reading about crime from her Gold Coast Apartment on Lake Michigan, or the security of city hall, is far removed from living surrounded by it.
Democrats like Schumer and Company tell you about DC crime from the perspective of Georgetown and Potomac. Not the 8th Ward.
From the perspective of armed personal security, not armed gang warfare.
From the perspective of relative safety.
Read the article. It's an amazing piece of history. And use your critical thinking skills to apply it's lessons to your own way of thinking.

Cabrini Green
Thirty-seven years ago, Mayor Jane Byrne moved into the Cabrini-Green housing project to draw attention to the violence and poverty there. It would become one of the most famous—and factious—publicity stunts in the city’s history.
