I'm amused to see the Johns Hopkins Covid cases graph escaped its cage again today. Yesterday it spiked up outside the top line with 488,000 positive tested cases, and today --- they had put another line on, 600,000, but it leaped up half a line past that one! I knew they should have put it up to 700,000. The number of tested positive cases yesterday was 648,000, approx. I love to see graphs get loose. It's like those people who can't be tested on IQ tests, they just top out.

The District reported 9,200 cases and two deaths from Dec. 23 to 26.

Yeah, worrying, I live in Maryland. Not that I go anywhere. I'm speculating they aren't going to be able to keep things open in January --- because the airlines are already dysfunctional, can't get crew or staff, and schools are already closing in some cases. I read a lot of restaurants around the country are closing some days at least or entirely because they just cannot get staff -- people are out sick. I think January is going to be quite interesting. I hope after that, everyone recovers.

Those en route there take one PCR test in Belgium before leaving for South Africa and another five days after their arrival. They self-isolate for 10 days in Cape Town, then undergo two further tests: one before leaving for Antarctica and another five days after arriving at the station.

Unfortunately, Tennessee topped the list of new Covid Deaths, yesterday, according to worldOmeter. Does that make us a Democratic shit hole, too? I suspect it means that many states did not update numbers since Christmas Eve and new numbers are in holiday flux.
CNN is going in the background. I just heard a report, that instead of Omicron making up 60% of new cases in the US, they now say the real(?) percentage is the 20s%. I make no claim to be able to evaluate the validity of either estimate. I can tell you, my daughter was getting sick on Christmas, and possibly feverish at our Christmas get together on Saturday. She is vaccinated, but has not been tested, though some better today. One of our sons, text today, he is now sick and getting tested today. He is also vaccinated.
