The GOP establishment did well in 2014. They strengthen their hold on Washington by running moderates. The far right had a bad year and in far right as they were rejected in the primaries in favor of more moderate centralist candidates, most Americans are centralist. The Tea Party/far right hasn't got stronger, it has gotten weaker.
Ted Cruz may scream the loudest, but his audience is shrinking.
