Cracker Barrel Redesign.

I just don’t get what the big deal is

If they had switched it to a black guy on the logo, I’d agree it was woke

But I don’t get what’s “woke” about simplifying the logo by removing the drawings

It really was an overly busy logo. I think it looks better this way. Not woke. Not political. Not because I hate old white guys or barrels. It just looks cleaner

And after umpteen million pages, I still haven’t seen anyone on this thread really explain what the big deal is

Maybe I’m being dense. Could someone just explain what the problem is?

Cracker Barrel has a woke CEO who is obsessed with DEI and Identity Politics. She is one in a long line of CEO's who jumped on the DEI and Identity Politics bandwagon hoping it would gain them favor with the government which was being controlled by democrap party up until 2025. The democraps, since Bill Clinton, have been pushing to align much more closely with Corporate America and pretty much succeeded if you look at all media companies, especially Disney and so many other companies. But DEI and Identity Politics is really only popular with about 20% of the country and the rest are sick to death of all the political BS in their daily lives. Most companies, since Trump was reelected, started dismantling their DEI and Identity Politics entanglements and desire to go back to business basics and better profitability. Cracker Barrel bucked this trend and went more woke. They just learned that catering to this 20% woke demographic leads to swift decline from the other 80% and the woke demographic is not very profitable at all, and they are certainly not very loyal.
Well, I still think the logo change is a giant nothing burger

But that lady CEO does seem like a crackpot with poor business sense

It's not about the logo, it's what the new logo represents. The democraps have spent 2 decades polarizing the American people into an Us vs. Them battle and they are did it by creating an Identity Politics culture and lifestyle to adhere to. That crackpot CEO wants to transform Cracker Barrel into a democrap destination where Identity Politics is clearly on display to attract those that live the Identity Politics lifestyle. 4 years ago it may have worked, but today the American people are sick to death of Identity Politics tearing them apart and are abandoning it and the democrap party. This rebrand was a massive failure and further demonstrates that people don't want everything in their lives to revolve around politics. Especially democrap politics and their toxic propaganda.

No, old farts.

Then the white people who are middle aged now, will be "old farts" in 10 years.

Your words make no sense. I think you are walking them back, becasue if you drill down them just a tad, you hit racist hate.

Your words actually were pushing a hard left world view where "old white people" need to "die off".

This is not what you really see happening, it is what you want to MAKE happen, or at least act as though it happened, and ignore and marginalize "old white people".

They need new customers.

SHIT TALK. YOU don't offend and lose your current customers, (bird in hand) to try to get new ones (birds in bush).

That is too dumb to be believed. THis was not a business decision. THis was a POLITICAL move, by a lib who was putting her politics ahead of her professional responsiblities.

Something is wrong in our boardrooms, that they keep ignoring that this happens.

/----/ Imagine, if you will, a conservative Christian got control of the LGBTQ+ community and changed the gay pride flag design to this. What would the outrage be?

Does an old man sitting by a barrel really symbolize that much?

Again, if they’d replaced the white Guy with a black guy then, yeah, that’s woke

But I honestly think they just wanted to simplify the logo. I think everyone is reading way too much into this

Woke exists, but this isn’t an example of it

/----/ Advertising 101. If you want to change a long-established logo, do it gradually over time, not all at once.

Yes it is. What was the intent?

As I said, I think the intent was simply to un-clutter the logo
/---/ I spent a decade in NY advertising as a designer and copywriter. That was not a simplification of the logo. That was an abortion. It was poorly executed. I'm sure the agency fought it, but at the end of the day, the client has the final say.

two

of hundreds of examples of gradually changing a logo.

Because the look is not conducive to their preferences I would imagine.

You have an excellent point.

Are you aware that a LOT of people are more... easily offended by things that look woke than you are? Even if you disagree with us, you know that we exist, right? You can SEE us, and HEAR us, and know that we are real, correct?
