Covid infection is picking up

Nope, and neither do you. BTW, I don't look anything like you, fool.

Is the Covid strain this year as bad as those in 2020 and 2021?

Copilot

The COVID-19 strains circulating in 2025—such as NB.1.8.1 (Nimbus) and XFG (Stratus)—are more transmissible than earlier variants but less severe overall compared to the deadly waves of 2020 and 2021 1 2

Here's a breakdown of how 2025 compares to earlier years:

Severity

  • The 2025 variants do not cause more severe illness than previous Omicron subvariants
    2
  • Hospitalization rates have dropped significantly: from 6.1 per 100,000 in December 2023 to 2 per 100,000 in December 2024 2.
  • Daily deaths in the U.S. have fallen from 5,000+ in 2021 to around 280 per dayin early 2025 3.

Transmissibility

  • Variants like Nimbus and Stratus are highly contagious and better at evading immunity, which contributes to seasonal waves 1
    • As of July 2025, COVID-19 infections are rising in 40 states, with 406,000 new daily infections estimated 1
  • Symptoms

    • Common symptoms include sore throat (often described as “razor blade throat”), fever, cough, fatigue, and gastrointestinal issues 1 2
    • These symptoms are generally milder than those seen with Delta or early Omicron waves.
  • Immunity and Vaccination

    • Widespread immunity from prior infections and vaccinationshas helped blunt the impact of new variants 2.
    • However, vaccination rates are declining, which could increase vulnerability, especially among high-risk groups 2
    • Public Health Outlook

      • COVID-19 is now considered endemic—a constant but manageable threat
        3
      • Experts emphasize the importance of vaccination, hygiene, and antiviralslike Paxlovid to reduce risk 2
    • Summary

While COVID-19 in 2025 is still a public health concern, especially for vulnerable populations, it is not as deadly or disruptive as the strains from 2020 and 2021. The virus continues to evolve, but thanks to immunity and medical advances, its impact is more manageable.
I have it right now - first case ever. I’ve been at home since Tuesday.

It isn’t too bad. Just like the flu - sore throat, fever, muscle aches, cough. Breathing is fine.

What’s happening with this virus is what happens with them all over time. They DO become more transmissible but weaker.

dimocraps are lyng scum. The whole cabal. Top to bottom, inside and out.

So this scumbag is trying to give himself some 'plausible deniability' because he knows his day of reckoning is coming. As it should.

Airplane? A lot of people are picking it up on Plane trips.

No….no plane trips. I’m clueless as to where I picked it up.
Chilluns.

Kids can get stuff that would half-kill an adult and they barely notice it. But they sure can pass it on.

Anyway, hope you feel better soon. Seriously, take care of yourself. If you're like most women, you'll overdo it. You'll start doing dishes, sweeping the floor, doing laundry.... STOP!

Take care of yourself

Covid infections of August 5 are picking up generally across the nation.

Some states are 'hotter' than others, some are not 'hot' at all.

Do you think you will get the vax or not and why?

Some of you anti-vax hoaxed sound very silly. Go here to learn more.: #Covid_19 in Video
Not going to get the shot, I have had Covid three times at least, not worried as the death rate is lower than it was in 2020. Not seeing a need for it.

I've said from the get-go that Covid will always be with us from now on. Just like the flu and the common cold.

And like all viruses, Covid will continue to mutate.

Every year, our virologists do their best to identify the influenza strain which will be most prevalent here. Then they develop a vaccine for that strain.

There are other strains of the flu for which they do not develop a vaccine. So it is possible to get the flu even after being vaccinated.

It is the same with Covid. Each year, a new vaccine will have to be developed for the most expected strain, but you will be susceptible to other strains that are also out there.

Covid is a coronavirus, thus its name. The common cold is also a coronavirus.

Like the cold virus, Covid will eventually mutate to a non-fatal, but highly contagious, disease.

And like the cold virus, Covid may one day be impossible to immunize against.

You can catch a cold several times in one year. I expect it will be the same with Covid.

Deaths from Covid will probably eventually subside below our annual deaths from influenza.

Not really.

The ventilation on airplanes is so superior, it is higly unlikely you can pick up a virus unless it is from the person sitting right next to you.

You are more likely to pick up a virus in the grocery store.

Or church.

Or a mind virus over the air and the internet from your propagandists...

Some indications suggest that Covid in 2025 is a milder disease. The once common symptoms of loss of taste and smell are becoming less common. And though some people are being hospitalised and dying, Chin-Hong says the vast majority of people will either be asymptomatic or experience a cold so mild that some might well mistake it for a seasonal allergy, such as a pollen complaint. While immunocompromised individuals are still particularly vulnerable, he believes that the major risk factor for more severe Covid is now simply being over the age of 75.

Chin-Hong says that there are two possibilities. One is that the vast majority of people have now been both vaccinated and infected so many times that their bodies have developed a powerful immune memory of what the virus now looks like, meaning that new infections are swiftly removed before they can penetrate deeper into the body. He believes that the progressively falling numbers of new long Covid cases is a further indication that this may be happening.

The second possibility is that Covid has now settled into a rut, which will see it become progressively milder until it ultimately becomes akin to the common cold. Chin-Hong says that this would make sense, particularly when we draw parallels with historical coronavirus outbreaks.

"People often look to influenza pandemics like the 1918 Spanish flu for clues as to what might happen with Covid, but coronaviruses may be inherently different from influenza, and so coronaviruses of the past may give better clues for the future," says Chin-Hong. "Overall, it seems that we may see less invasive disease and long Covid over time as population immunity improves, despite the continued evolution of the virus to create variants like XEC that look scary in the lab."

The above is no reason to avoid the booster.
Each member of my immediate family has had Covid several times. I have not. And there is no doubt I have been exposed, what with my family members having it so many times.

If I have, I was asymptomatic.

My son tested positive for Covid when he was in the ER for a different reason. He was asymptomatic. We would never have known he had Covid if it wasn't protocol for everyone who goes to the ER.

My youngest daughter and my wife work in healthcare. I've lost count how many times they have had Covid despite getting all the shots and boosters.

When you work in health care, you are going to get Covid. There are just too many strains out there now.

Every time they tested positive, they had to isolate at home and miss work.

They both worked in a nursing home for a while, and dumbshit MAGA family members would come visit and they denied Covid even existed. They killed their own family members with their ******* idiocy. Not just their own family members, but other residents of the nursing home.

Yay MAGA! They should be tried for murder.

The only long term effect my daughter has is she says things taste different now.

When my daughter would go to the grocery store, she would mask up so she would not carry the virus back to work. She actually had MAGA tards confront her in the store about wearing a mask. They are so gaslighted and brainwashed, it is making them dangerously aggressive.

I told her to tell them she was concealing her face to keep the Jewish Space Laser from recognizing her. ;)

Nevertheless, the vax is a matter of personal choice at this point. Unless you are around someone who is vulnerable, like seniors and like my friend who had MS, or if you work in health care.
