Murder is the right charge IMO.
Forced her to drink an entire two-litre bottle of pop, refilled it with water and made her drink that too? All at one sitting?
There is no hell that exist that would be enough punishment for such an act.

Read the article. Wouldn't think 1st degree, but definitely 2nd. If it was punishment, and they'd done it before, then they probably didn't intend it to be fatal.

Too much water too quickly disrupts cellular functioning and can cause deaths. Been numerous incidents of this over the years. Recall an incident where a radio station held a contest awarding one of the console game systems for whoever could drink a gallon of water fastest. The one who did died.

1st degree murder is the right charge.

I would force the "parents" to drink 8 liters of water each in a scope of 2 hours - as a punishment.
And provide medical help ( if any) in 12 hours when they become unresponsive.

they knew. forcing a small child to drink more than half a gallon of fluid in 2 hours is cruel torture by itself and that much water will cause problems - as any pediatrician will tell.

They don't even charge parents with murder who leave kids in hot cars. Manslaughter at most

Whether they meant to kill the child or not, harming the child in some way was their every intention if what they had the child do was the child's punishment for something and because of how far they ended up going, in my opinion, they should not get away with it.

This makes me think of when we stopped for lunch last week. Steak und Shake.

Anyhow- there's a couple in the booth behind us, and I could hear the male figure speaking to the two kids (probably 8 years old) like they were little pieces of shit. I was so pissed. So I tried keeping a conversation going with the Mrs. (a difficult task LOL) just to drown it out. Damn we should have moved to another table. I was fuming the rest of the trip. Grrrr.....
