Corona Virus? that's the least of the health threats from China.

Americans may want to consider decisions made 20 years ago in the final year of the Bill Clinton administration. Clinton’s US-China Relations Act of 2000 essentially gutted the effectiveness of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA was created in 1906 as an inspection organization to ensure that drugs manufactured for Americans were safe and lived up to inspection standards to ensure that safety.

Up to the 1990’s, ninety percent of all drugs and ingredients for vitamins were manufactured in the US, Europe and Japan but that changed after the Clinton administration bucked public opinion and granted China the same trading status as other countries along with low import tariffs. This was right around the time when globalization was stealing the company pensions and affordable employee health insurance of American workers.

Because China is one of those countries where workers die in the gutter when they get old and sick, it was able to undercut all the other drug manufacturers and corner the market on the pharmaceutical industry. Now about 85 percent of all drugs and their components are made in China which is no less hostile to the US than it’s ever been.

China is not our friend, and neither is the Congress that allowed this to happen. The Corona Virus is the least of the dangers coming out of China today. Somewhere around 2010 many were surprised to see Pepcid Complete, an over the counter formulation to relieve symptoms of acid reflux, disappear from store shelves. Questions to pharmacists yielded only shrugged shoulders and silence. The official explanation was on a par with Hillary Clinton’s explanation that the deaths in Benghazi were due to a video. It was a distraction and a lie about one US plant and one flavor.

The real story was that the Chinese were putting plaster, asbestos, and other construction material into the pills as filler. You never found out about it because the pharmaceutical lobbies didn’t want you to. Now your blood pressure drugs and antibiotics could be contaminated at any time either purposely or through sheer incompetence and Congress allowed this to happen.

The FDA will never be able to adequately inspect Chinese drug manufacturers and it’s just a matter of time before a major health disaster occurs in America. You’ll be lied to when it happens. Maybe it’s time to investigate the entire US Congress.

The Coronavirus can live up to nine days at ambient temperature on cardboard surfaces. Since most of the drugs prescribed for Americans are made in China you may want to consider that the microbes could be living not just in the packaging of medications but in the medications themselves.

I fully acknowledge some democrats role in the "free trade" scam. In the beginning some of it made sense and still does. It all just went too far. You just have to admit how very recent the willingness to implement protectionist measures is among the "business friendly" politicians. If Trump has done anything worthwhile it is to move republicans to the point they will consider American jobs worth saving, at least that's what they say. I remember boards like this during the early 00s. People like you cheered every time a union shop was closed up and moved out. Was it worth it? This is what you people traded for breaking the political power of Labor. A country that can't even make anything from scratch anymore.
