1) On August 6th, 2020, Trump banned Tik Tok from ALL US devices, if ByteDance did not fully divest from China within 45 days, here:

This Executive Order got tied up in the courts (there are some strong 1st Amendment v. National Security issues).

2) Biden cancelled Trump's order on June 9th, 2021 here:

He replaced Trump's order with a freaking study. Biden's order undoubtedly resulted in countless actual spying incidents on Americans... Biden did China another huge favor. Example here....

3) Now, our nation's lawmakers have finally realized what Trump saw well over two years ago, and they have passed in both the House and Senate, bills which ban Tik Tok from only government devices...

Took them over two years to address the threat Trump saw and took action on 28 months ago. Meanwhile, Tik Tok grew into the most popular website of all time, more popular than google.

What do you think about that?

Look at that. Biden accomplishes yet another thing that Trump couldn't.

I think that Trump exceeded his authority by banning Tik Tok. He should have gone to Congress. Of course, now that congress has acted, the whaling and gnashing of teeth will ensue.

Let's see if it passes a court challenge.

I, for one, think that SOME businesses, those in the public square, should be regulated when proven to be a deterrent to our security.

Trump was right again and they don't like it and will never admit it.

But, *biden's actions prove it.

Trump as usual was correct about the evils of Tik Tok. Of course this only bans it from government devices. The CCP is still free to collect all users data and push whatever damaging content their "algorithms" decide to send to our kids.

This story is probably much bigger than they are revealing.

TikTok admits to spying on its US users

Back in November, FBI Director Christopher Wray told US Congress the bureau has 'national security concerns' about the Chinese-based social media app.

Emily Baker-White, who wrote for BuzzFeed and now works for Forbes, was one of those targeted.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "ByteDance used TikTok to track my location – and the locations of two of my colleagues – to try to find our sources.

"We reported on this back in October, but kept things vague to protect sources. Today ByteDance admitted it, so we can say much more."

The outlet explains that ByteDance's head of audit and risk control Song Ye has since left the company, while all four of the employees involved in the misconduct were fired...

TikTok's head of internal audit Chris Lepitak has also been fired. Two of the former employees were US-based while the other two were in China....

"This isn’t about creative videos. This is about an app that is collecting data on tens of millions of American children and adults every day. We know it’s used to manipulate feeds and influence elections," Rubio said n a statement.
"We know it answers to the People’s Republic of China.

TikTok hit back at the proposed legislation, with a spokesperson for the app describing it as a 'politically-motivated ban' that will do nothing to actually advance America's national security.

"It is troubling that rather than encouraging the administration to conclude its national security review of TikTok, some members of Congress have decided to push for a politically-motivated ban that will do nothing to advance the national security of the United States," the spokesperson explained.

[See there, Biden Admin did exactly what the Chinese wanted - a "review" instead of any action.]

Found it comical today that the Biden admin is restricting travelers from China due to covid concerns. Didn't they give the Trump admin a ration of shit, calling them racist, for announcing the exact same policies in 2020? Fucking blatant hypocrisy.

This is how it should be done. I've repeatedly condemned lazy presidents passing lazy EO's as opposed to getting things through Congress with actual laws that simply can't be dismissed by the next president.
