Trump clearly overperformed and his ground game was very strong. As I watched the results come in Kornacki kept mentioning that Trump was beating the 2020 numbers he put up against Biden in counties he lost in 2020, showing that Harris was not getting the same results as Biden was getting 4 years earlier, and I pretty much knew before I went to bed that Trump would win.

I do believe a good candidate would have beaten Trump, and it did not have to be anyone particularly gifted, but Harris did not inspire anyone. Trump inspired millions to vote for, and against him. Money and politics have been hand in hand for a hundred years. The mistake made was the so called campaign finance reform act in 1974 the Democrat congress passed over Ford's veto. That law empowered the PACs diluted the political parties and led to the number of law suits following the passage of that dumb law.
