MLB shot themselves in the foot after 1994. The big markets dominate. They need to put more franchises in the bigger markets.
Used to be seven teams between Boston, New York and Philly. Now there are only four.
The Yankees, Dodgers and Red Sox have been in the playoffs 23, 18 and 14 times, respectively, since 1995. KC, 3. When a small market does well through management and planning, their players are bought up by the big markets.

Two biggest markets always in the playoffs post-1994 and if they don’t make the WS they should consider themselves abject failures.

MLB ended for me when they expanded the playoffs to attract the lowest common denominator fan trash like every other sport.
A team with a 100-win season gets stuck in a 2 of 3 series against a 3rd place team who has zero pressure on them.

Baseball was the last pro sport to respect its own history and not change its rules to accommodate the titillated masses. Changes were allowed to evolve naturally and genuinely. Now they have a pitch clock and let everyone into the playoffs, essentially negating the significance of the regular season as well as advertising boorishness and histrionics, all to appease the ignorant.
A true reflection of a trash culture.
All that’s left is high school sports and they’ve had to legislate decency and sportsmanship as kids get their cues from the pros.
