Confederate Statues Stand, BLM Plaza Forced to Close

If they’re so worried about “divisive symbols,” why are Confederate leaders still standing in the Capitol?

.

For the same reason ... A statue of George Washington stands in Trafalgar Square in Westminster, London.
It's history ... And one they are not likely to forget ... Nor do they desire to ...

.

There's a multi-billion dollar industry built around American Black Racism. Al Sharpton is a prime example. He never worked a day in his life and made millions fomenting Black hatred of White people.
Al Sharpton is not a true racist. Why? Because prejudice+power is racism. Al Sharpton has no real power.
So, he can't be racist. He can be biased. But, not racist.

So to sum up slavers can be forgiven but you think black people who don't like slaver idolatry are the scum of the earth...

BLM, is more than just black people that don't like slavers.

The fact that you have to lie to defend them, kind of makes my point for me.

They are filthy commie racist anti-american bastards.

I guess symbols of the Confederacy are not divisive. That tells you something about this country. How long will people continue to deny the problem?

Black Lives Matter Plaza Gets Erased—But the Statues of White Supremacists Still Stand

If they’re so worried about “divisive symbols,” why are Confederate leaders still standing in the Capitol?

In America, Black life is seen as more dangerous than the most heinous of statues. While Republicans celebrate Confederate generals, segregationists, and genocidal presidents in the nation’s capital, they have successfully erased one of the most prominent modern symbols of racial justice: Black Lives Matter Plaza.

The removal of the mural and renaming of the plaza shows, once again, that Republican lawmakers are more offended by the words "Black Lives Matter" than by the actions of the blatantly terrible men enshrined in bronze and marble throughout Washington, D.C. Their priorities are clear: erase messages of equality, but keep up monuments to white supremacy.

How would you like me to respond to this thread?

Many of those statues, Jefferson Davis for example, are located in the National Statuary Hall. While not technically a museum, it functions like one. It's a historic space which serves as a public exhibit for visitors. It's quite possible the Hall contains statues that no one is celebrating, but those statues serve as a historic reference and reminder. With that in mind, the National Statuary Hall and BLM painted street could not have more opposite meanings. BLM represents a political activist group aligned with one party.
There are statues and monuments of racist, confederate traitors in damn near every town from Virginia to Texas.

History, I wonder why you don't see any statues or monuments of Hitler or Nazis in Germany. Is that not a part of their history?

They hate any black man that stands up for black folks. They want black men who are going to be subservient like Ben Carson, Byron Donalds, Tim Scott, Clarence Thomas, see those are some of the good ones.

The OP is upset about racist Confederate statues being kept up and BLM Plaza being erased.
LOL upset over Andrew Jackson statue?
“Depictions of colonization”? It’s racist to show the original settlers?

You people are beyond nuts.

If you don’t like being in a country that was founded through colonization you should move back to Africa.

Not sure why you lefties are so upset about slavery, it was the Democratic Party that defended slavery and the GOP that defeated them.

Even today Dems still support virtual slavery: “free trade” with China where they pay workers pennies to the dollar, and they live open borders to allow the exploitation of brown people to be used as cheap labor pairs far below minimum wage.

The former BLM leadership could give a flying fuck about the painted street in DC as they sit in their multimillion dollar mansions laughing about you fools.

Oh ... They kept other things to remind them of their history and Hitler ...
Like the concentration camps ... Including Dachau.
You should visit there some time if you haven't already ...
Quite a terrible place ... Much like the slave quarters you can still find at Frogmore Plantation.

Plus ... Any official associated with the Nazi regime of any consequence ... Was tried and executed if captured ...
Unlike the Rebel Commanders after the Civil War.
Germans weren't allowed to work for quite some time after the war ...
If they could be associated to the Nazi regime.

The Denazification of Germany was required when the Allied Forces occupied German territory ...
After the war ... And it was against the law to display any Nazi symbolism after 1949.

But of course ... You really weren't interested in the answer ...
Or I am surprised you would have to ask it ... :auiqs.jpg:

Maybe we shouldn't have forgiven the South.

The problem was, after the war, we let the South go back to engaging in bad behavior instead of enforcing what was won in the war.
How many decades should the Union kept occupying troops in the ex-Confederate states?

How can you honestly think Slaves were beat all damned day? Slaves learned good jobs. How do you think that they survived after Lincoln illegally freed them. And stop thinking the was was over slaves. It was on and going when Lincoln invaded VA with thousands of troops. As much as Democrats hate Republicans, one would think they hate Lincoln even more since it was Democrats owning slaves.
Slaves were valuable property, only an idiot would mistreat them to any degree. It would be like a farmer injuring his oxen or mules. Were slaves mistreated? Of course, no one disputes that, but severe abuse was rare, bad slaves were generally just sold off to worse situations. That was the way slavery always worked all over the world. Unruly slaves that refused to learn to behave eventually wound up in a salt mine or pulling an oar in a galley.
