When we hear about job loss due to the DOGE purge of government it's easy to cheer on not realizing that there's actually a face attached to that number. It's time for us to look and listen.

Exactly! The US Federal Govt. has been growing by leaps and bounds with no oversight and not a single RIF. It's not just the current payroll, it's a massive PENSION PROGRAM that will be an added burden to future generations. Here is the fact, governments who expand beyond their needs have to cut the number of employees on the payroll. It's no different than a private company. With so much debt, the U.S (and many Western countries) have to make difficult decisions. Blame all the fools who burned trillions over the last couple of decades in wars and other gross waste.

As long as Musk earns 400 times more than those he paid off what's the diff, eh, fuck 'em is what you be saying.By actual count, I lost my job 6 times during my career from 1971 to 2016. None of them had any connection to job performance. Shit happens. People deal with it, all the time.
Just because it's a government job doesn't make it a tragedy.
Elon Musk has shown often that any large organization can be shrunk with no deterioration of the mission, provided it's done judiciously.

Musk isn't getting paid for his work with DOGE.
What he "earns" was accrued before this time.
Read up on the guy, he's a far more effective and beneficial human than you are.

When is the president and vice president going to lay off their staff and take a pay cut?
There have not been any cuts to the White House staff. You never fail to astound me with the depths of your ignorance and stupidity.
The Depts, getting RIFs, cuts in funding and staff, and/or elimination are all within the Executive Branch.
They are the staff reductions.
BTW, some of those getting RIF were making more in pay and benefits than either POTUS or VP.
Last I knew, Trump isn't drawing his salary.
Why should there be ???There have not been any cuts to the White House staff.
I see, you don't mind vindictive hypocrisy by the big peter, Trump. Why should there be ???
Do you have any clue what the jobs of the White House staff are and how many ???
(I doubt it. You're a clueless troll on nearly everything.)
Classic fear mongering and gross economic and math ignorance on your part.Cutting the federal workforce will increase unemployment and put the US in recession due to a loss of fiscal transactions, stiffing the farmers will cause prices to crash as farmers file for bankruptcy, also contributing to a loss of economic activity.
In January 2025, US consumer sentiment decreased for the first time in six months, according to the University of Michigan's Surveys of Consumers. The Conference Board also reported a decline in consumer confidence.
