The university reply based on voter passed law of not using affirmative action:

“If this woman believes she was discriminated against based on the color of her skin, then the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative gives her protection and she should take formal action,” Gratz said. “If she wants preferential treatment based on her race, then she is advocating for others to be discriminated against and that is unconstitutional.”
