First off... definitions:

Collective punishment is a form of retaliation whereby a suspected perpetrator's family members, friends, acquaintances, sect, neighbors or entire ethnic group is targeted. The punished group may often have no direct association with the other individuals or groups, or direct control over their actions.
Collective punishment - Wikipedia

Under the 1949 Geneva Conventions, collective punishment is a war crime.

Now for a typical, but lesser known example:

It is a truly putrid stench. Palestinians who have been sprayed describe it as "worse than raw sewage" and "like a mixture of excrement, noxious gas and a decomposing donkey".

Invented by Israeli firm Odortec, skunk water was first used by the Israeli military against demonstrators in the occupied West Bank in 2008. Since then armoured vehicles equipped with water cannon spraying jets of the stinky liquid have become a regular sight....

Who, What, Why: What is skunk water? - BBC News

Israel regularly sprays this on Palestinian streets, homes, and on their schools with their children. But they are hated because of antisemitism?

Think. Collective punishment. War crime!

Is it a war crime when a Palestinian animal walks into a pizza restaurant in Jerusalem and blows up a bunch of women and children?

Is it a war crime when a Palestinian animal runs down women, children, and the elderly by intentionally running them down with a car or stabbing them?

I wonder...

Yes, I have pointed out to my conservative Constitutionalist buddies
that the war in Iraq in affecting innocent civilians as collateral damage
is like collective punishment for the wrongs of the regime that was also oppressing THEM as victims.

How just is that?

War is problematic, and can best be justified
by "divine judgment" where God is going to sort it out.

As for politics:
1. would you consider the ACA mandates "collective punishment" for penalizing all citizens
by depriving us of liberty without proving which people committed abuses of public resources yet?
2. what about the elections?
was Obama or Trump "collective punishment" for party politics
where whole groups suffer lack of representation when the other group dominates?
3. is crime, and the failure of society to prevent it,
costing ALL citizens and taxpayers, not just the victims of crime,
but the public who has to pay the costs of incarceration, prosecution, etc.
Isn't that collectively punishing everyone for our failure to prevent crimes of individuals?

NONE OF THAT HAS TO DO WITH COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT. I even posted the definition so you wouldn't get confused... oh well.

Nice derail attempt, but not really.

Louie...this is all a little game called "get the hint stupid". Apparently the Palestinians are too stupid to get the hint.

We saw how well that worked for your German people, Adolf.

It is a crime and it is out of desperation. I don't think people commit suicidal acts because they are so happy with their condition.

The German people? I thought we were talking about the poooor downtrodden Mooooooooooooslims.

Your link identifies the use of the spray during street protests.

As opposed to other methods if riot control, the spray seems pretty low impact. I'm guessing you just view rioting and mayhem by Islamic terrorists as an entitlement without consequence?

They drive a truck through the streets and spray it everywhere. Find your own links this time. It's fun and a good mental challenge for you.

Collective punishment is a war crime.

Neither riot control nor blockades are war crimes nor collective punishment. And neither has EVER been considered such until Israel comes into the discussion.

Now, if you want to discuss the one instance where Israel does actually impose collective punishment -- its the destruction of the houses of families of terrorists. That I have a problem with. Its punishing people by association rather than deed. That said, I don't know what else Israel is to do with a hostile population in their midst. There doesn't seem to be any strictly moral way of handling it.

No? What kind of a moron thinks blowing up a restaurant, shopping mall, movie theatre, nurseries, etc. or Hamas missiles at civilian targets isn't a collective terrorist attack on civilians? But when Israel defends itself against said animals, it's "collective punishment"?

A street protest is not a riot until the riot police come and start one.

Ah, yes. What a truly twisted mindset. The criminally insane think the same way.

The criminal who broke into a house was not at fault for killing the homeowner. If the homeowner had not come home unexpectedly, the criminal would not have been forced to kill him.
