His predecessor averaged 15 million viewers a night, Colbert lost more that 80% with about 2 million watching his trumpophobic bullshit.

Go woke, and go broke.

See BS was losing their ass because of his silliness.

His dismissal had nothing to do with "fascism" or the 1st amendment, just the almighty dollar.

If he got fired it stands to reason he’ll be replaced. Who will step up?

The network says it is eliminating the Tonight Show. He will not be replaced in kind. Perhaps some other program type will be introduced.

This development is odd, isn't it? He is fired, but given 8 months notice. He goes on air bad-mouthing his employer(s). There is no way he will remain on the air until May.

Can any rational person imagine why it takes 200 full-time humans to produce that show? Three or four high school sophomores could do it easily.

No dumbass.

They canceled the entire show.

It's a dead "art form".

Into history's dustbin it hath been chucked.

And yet again you're the last to know what's happening.

I'm shocked.

Show us how to do it.

Johnny Carson also was adamant about staying out of political "humor". It was all about entertainment and interesting celebrities who ALSO didn't spout off politically.

Sure, Carson was on at a time when there were only three channels. If that is too hard for you to figure out, perhaps you can get an adult to help you.

Do not forget: 50 years ago when Johnny Carson was reaching 15 million viewers every night, back then, there were only 215 million people in the whole country, so, Carson was reaching 7% of the entire American population nightly--- if Colshit is only reaching 2 million NOW, that is only less than 0.6% of the country--- about 1/12th the number of people.

If he were reaching 50% of Carson's number, you could rationalize it, but he only barely reaches 1/6th of that.

At the time day work was much more part of life. His show was an hour and a half for much of it and ended at 1 a.m. on the East coast. People still had to get up to go to work. Today, Progressive wokeism controls 95% over everything broadcast. Death by a thousand TV shows. Add up the Progressive socialist dogma every day together and that is a lot of propaganda.

Network television ratings across the board have decreased by at least 80% since Johnny was on the air.

That was a looooong time ago.

What we are seeing is major shift from left wing ideology back to a center right ideology that believes in traditional American moral values. Thats why we are seeing serious declines in CNN MSNBC and other centers of socialist, woke, progressive propaganda. As they lose viewers they lose money. Thats the American way profits determine your real value and when you cant make a prophet you fail. Because by definition people dont want you. Expect more to go.

Well, it does not help that today, not only are there many other things competing with network TV, but many of them offer better picture quality and a fraction of the commercials.

And many of the networks themselves are to blame. They have been deliberately starving television in order to feed interest in the burgeoning streaming market, which they own.

So basically, all that is left now is for television to be considered a "dumping ground" for much of the trash that now serves as modern TV programming.

In our multi-forum society, an entertainer with millions of "fans" should have no trouble finding a platform where he can reach them, and possibly even expand his base.

The whining about the cancellation of his show is unseemly, is it not? Grow up. Find something better for yourself. People in that business get fired all the time.
