The states and Washington, D.C., do not require any documentation to vote at the polls:

• Illinois
• Maine
• Maryland
• Massachusetts
• Minnesota
• Nevada
• New Jersey
• New Mexico
• New York
• Pennsylvania
• Vermont

I'd say 13 states not requiring voter ID (photo or otherwise) is a big controversy.

In a lot of cases they aren't really voting....they're just using their information to get ballots to mail in. Some of them are absentee voting for voters who don't regularly vote.

Perverting an election would require a vast conspiracy by coordinated fake voters.

It's an incredibly inefficient way of perverting an election, and an audit would expose it.

Goons threatening certifying officials would have a better chance of success, and that failed.

The R's say they now have the votes (50+1) to carry this in the Senate, although some partisan maneuvering will delay it for a while.

The only halfway-tenable objection the D's could think of was that it might be problematic for married women who have changed their names when they got married, because their birth certs will show a difference name than their current photo-ID's. Surely, this can be addressed easily through the regulation-writing process.

Somebody somewhere should shove this right up Schumer's ass; he has been saying that it will "never happen."

I personally don't think it's Constitutional, but like the Defense of Marriage Act, it is symbolically significant. Also, in all the Leftist states it will b e challenged in court, thus being ineffective for the mid-terms.
