It is a crime to lie to elected officials and the American People in the commission of felony fraud related to election returns.
It is not a crime to lie to debate colleagues nor the American People in the ex officio role of debate participant.
Was that a crime at-law?
Indeed.

It is entirely possible that Sleepy Old Uncle Joe and his entire family and aspects of his administration are corrupt beyond redemption.
Personally, having been born into and raised in and living amongst the Chicago-area Democratic political corruption legacy, this doesn't surprise me at all.
What signifies here is the complaint that when Teflon Don lies, he goes to jail, and when Sleepy Old Uncle Joe lies, he merely gets spanked by the media.
In contemplating such a complaint, the complainers must first examine the nature of the lies and the presence (or absence) or relevant covering statute.
If you lie under circumstances in which there is no relevant covering statute then there is no crime per se and therefore no indictment or trial nor jail time.
In reality, Trump isn't being prosecuted because he lied.
Trump is being prosecuted because he summoned, incited and aimed an riotous mob assault against the Congress of the United States on January 6, 2021.
An insurrection fostered and attempted merely to hold onto person political power, like some third-world tin-pot dictator-wannabe... a failed one, no less.
That makes him dangerous... to the Republic and the Constitution... and a severe example must now be made of him, insofar as The Law will allow it.
Trump lies referenced above are merely one of several mechanisms by which he may be prosecuted and sidelined and his threat removed from public life.
As to Sleepy Old Uncle Joe... the sun rises in the east, and sets in the west, and Democrats are corrupt and lie... dog bites man... not exactly news, is it?
If you can nail Old Joe at-law for corruption, etc., then, by all means, go for it.... but do not expect The Law to let up on Trump just because Old Joe is corrupt.
