Does modern technology seem exciting to you, or does it give you the willies?
Should we measure TrumpUSA aesthetics in terms of innovation/computer paranoia?
====
A modern knight has to consider the ways in which labyrinths of technology and communication construct forms of awareness, since today, networks are gauged by gears of jargon that are made legal/efficient by means of social perspective (e.g., WikiLeaks). In such a society, a knight from another time arrives through a portal opened by a wizard from Medieval Europe. This knight, Alas, decides that 21st Century America ('TrumpUSA') is largely computer-driven and network-imagined (e.g., NASDAQ). Alas wonders if the Internet hacker is the 21st Century equivalent of the 20th Century terrorist (e.g., Munich 1972).
Alas creates an image of a metallic/mechanical silver dragon and names the creature Grendel. Alas realizes that Grendel represents all the crookedness and tech-obsession paranoia of the modern era and why TrumpUSA citizens seem somewhat pensive/anxious about the use/overuse of technology linked to modern consumerism lifestyle/consciousness (e.g., eBay, Amazon, Netgrocer, Facebook, Wikipedia, etc., etc.). Alas meditates on why Grendel symbolizes both the potential of technology and the eerie omens of narcissistically fantasizing about the contours of tech splendor (e.g., IBM). Has man become too focused on machinery?
Alas picks up a comic book of the semi-superhuman Cyborg-Superman (DC Comics), an abominable humanoid who exhibits extraordinary abilities since he is one part super-humanoid and one part enhanced robot. Cyborg-Superman is a real freak, so Alas decides that the creation of such a 'modernism-symbolic avatar' reflects humanity's fear of misusing technology and perverting nature through 'arrogant science.' Alas wonders about the link/relationship between Grendel (his fictional metal-machine dragon) and Cyborg-Superman (a pop-culture comic book character symbolizing true civilization insanity).
ALAS: It seems to me that TrumpUSA is much flowery!
GOD: Yes, consumerism/capitalism has made America 'ornamental.'
ALAS: I'm honored to travel to this future-time and witness this change!
GOD: You're aware now of the potency of innovation and science/technology.
ALAS: Perhaps there are 'civilization diagonals' between education and ambition!
GOD: Computer/software companies represent great human strides.
ALAS: The Internet/computer hacker is the newest version of 'terrorist.'
GOD: Yes, Internet hackers destabilize communication/traffic networks.
ALAS: It's possible then that the modern 'grid' (the 'Net') is threatened.
GOD: By what or whom, Alas?
ALAS: It pleases me to be praying and conversing with you in this urban church!
GOD: I'm glad you found this conveniently located church in NYC, Alas.
ALAS: I believe, God, that this modern 'Net' is threatened by a force called 'Deformer.'
GOD: Deformer?
ALAS: Yes, God; the Deformer is an 'entity' that (as ominous name implies) deforms.
GOD: What does the Deformer deform in this case, Alas?
ALAS: Well, this Deformer is essentially then a 'Net-Deformer' (or 'ND').
GOD: This abbreviation/alias you've given this 'Deformer' --- ND --- infers weakness!
ALAS: Indeed, God; the ND is a symbol of everything fragile about civilization geometry.
GOD: So since civilization now uses computers to create networks, the ND is like Godzilla!
ALAS: Precisely; the ND is a true 'Godzilla' of civilization infrastructure...
GOD: I suppose it's because this 'ND' reminds man that destabilization collapses commerce!
ALAS: Exactly; when commerce collapses in this new age, civilization feels 'tremors.'
GOD: So you're a time-traveling knight who's witnessed the social impact of technology!
ALAS: I believe that is true, God; I think this 'ND' concept infers our focus on intelligence.
GOD: How is 21st Century intelligence related to faith, then, Alas?
ALAS: In my humble estimation, this 'ND' intelligence invokes ideas about terrorism-control!
GOD: So if there are fewer Internet hackers, man will be more confident about commerce(?).
ALAS: I believe that is correct, God; if there is less network/grid terror, commerce is smooth!
GOD: In other words, smooth commerce is the hallmark of TrumpUSA...
ALAS: It seems pretty clear to me that this is a sound hypothesis.
GOD: Return to your own time and tell people of this 'ND' impact on human imagination!
ALAS: Hail to images of 'Innovation Rapture'...
