Cinco de Mayo canceled

Cinco de Mayo canceled

I guess the month of May will forever consist of only 30 days.
Several major cities have canceled Cinco de Mayo celebrations because of increasing fears over President Donald Trump‘s crackdown on immigration.
Beware Murhpy! ICE will be on the look-out on the 17th. of March. Stay indoors and don't shop for any amount of spuds during that time of the year. :safetocomeoutff:

Funny thing, the 1st deportation I ever encountered in real life was an Irish guy.
And he got deported. Was there one day and gone the next. Poof!
Also, this is May and March was a couple mos ago.

fyi- Cubans in general, are not dark people.... even someone like you, might like them! 😁
Cinco de Mayo is less than 1/3 of what the Latin Festival is.
On 8th street, anyway. Cubans don't care about Mexicans that much. :auiqs.jpg:

When we lived in South Florida we used to go to Calle Ocho in Miami to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with the locals....my favorite Cuban restaurant was just a few blocks walk away!
I love Cuban food! So does the hubby!
Why would Cubans celebrate Cinco de Mayo? You must be one of the Latinex people.

/----/ After the breakfast burrito, we're renaming it Stinko de Mayo.

I am sure Trump will issue an EO renaming Cinco de Mayo May 5th in America day
/----/ It all started with a beer commercial.
As with St. Patrick’s Day, the alcohol industry seized the opportunity to make Cinco de Mayo a holiday you can’t celebrate without alcohol. Metaphorically speaking, they transformed Cinco de Mayo into an alcohol brand.

In the 1980s, Anheuser-Busch and Miller Company sponsored Cinco de Mayo events to tap into the Latino/a/e market. The first-known, retail-based Cinco de Mayo ad campaign launched in 1989 to persuade Mexican Americans and the rest of America to drink Mexican beer. In 2014, Cinco de Mayo became the biggest drinking day of the year after the winter holidays. As retail giants, restaurants and small businesses caught on to the profit potential of this day and the market expanded, the meaning of the holiday was quickly lost and fast-forward to today, reduced to being a symbol of drinking in non-Mexican-American populations.

Every American should celebrate Mexico's defeat of France on Cinco de Mayo, 1862.

Driving the European powers out of the Americas was a great movement in history.

Only one large land mass left under European control, and how long can those Danes hold out against U.S. pressure to free the Kalaallit from the yoke of colonialism?

Actually, they won on Cinco de Mayo then lost 12 days later in the second Battle of Pueblo leading to the Hapsburg Maximillian as the Emperor of Mexico.

It is celebrated as Mexico's only victory in battle.
