CIA Employees offered Buyouts

Who authorized these buyouts? What are the terms? They’d be stupid to accept without a lot more detail.
Well . . . Yeah.

I’m sure they’ll get full details before they take the offer. Not for me though. I’m not HR at the CIA. I’m just a Rando Internet poster.

Yes, there will be some die hard who won’t see the train coming. They will believe that they can sit by their pool occasionally answering emails and the checks will keep coming indefinitely.
They’re like drivers who are oblivious to lane closure warnings and drive up to the bottleneck before becoming aware.

CNN —
The Central Intelligence Agency on Tuesday became the first major national security agency to offer so-called buyouts to its entire workforce, a CIA spokesperson and two other sources familiar with the offer said, part of President Donald Trump’s broad effort to shrink the federal government and shape it to his agenda.

This seems more than fair. If it is the same package offered to other federal workers, it is very generous.

What could possibly go wrong? LOL

Nobody trusts Trump, hence the lawsuits.

If I worked for the government and Trump said quit by Tuesday and I'll give you a year's pay, I would not trust him. I would not expect to get paid. So it would have to be in writing. I wouldn't come forward with my resignation and hope he will honor the deal. He'll say sue me.

Got it all sewn up, eh? I don’t know though. That recent 5-4 vote shows chinks.
It’s Chinese-American, and there’s never been one on the Supreme Court.

This will no longer be Peter Stzrok’s FBI, nor John Brennen’s CIA.

Time for the partisan rats to leave the ship. Not because it’s sinking but because rats will no longer be allowed to chew holes in the hull while getting fat in the galley stores.

Bye-bye traitors!

Try being private detectives for divorce lawyers or slip-and-fall scammers.
They are accountant and lawyers.

Yes, Cobra is an option but expensive.....
Yes, but they are getting 8 months of severance pay! And if they don’t like the deal, they don’t have to take it.

It’s a more generous offer than regular people get when they are laid off. They have no choice in the matter, and they aren’t paid for a better part of the year.

Oh for certain. In the real world, we have to deal with layoffs all the time....much shorter and smaller severances than what is offered here....these folks act like its the end of the world because they have been coddled. Now its time to face some reality.
If they would get on the ball and stop whining, many could likely have another job, a real one, and put some cash in the bank from the offer.

What gets me is how out of touch they are!

1) If I were within a couple of years of retirement, I would look at this as a real gift.

2) If I were younger, I would take the long severance and find another job. Odds are I would find one before the 8 months are up, and thus I’d be getting two paychecks for a while.

Its happened to me twice, each time I was able to do your option 2. And you can purchase an interim, temporary health plan until the one at your new job kicks in.
But, you have to stop crying and whining and actually assume some self responsibility to get this done.....
