I'm sure there are back channel discussions among nations so the U.S authorities aren't blind to any developments or shifts in strategy. Putin is a focused leader, some might suggest reckless, but he isn't THAT reckless. It is suicidal and he knows it.

This doesn't mean low yield nukes are immune from the discussion, but it's an escalation that would immediately force global condemnation with little room for any dissenting support of such methods.

You lack understanding when you suggest that it's Putin making the decisions.
It isn't, it's Russia.
But Russia has secure backing with the very high popularity of Putin.

We should all be much more concerned with Biden's lack of popularity, which could turn half of Americans sour on this very risky war.

But first before any meaningful discussion with you, get it straight that this is a lot bigger than Putin being allowed to make the decisions on the world's future.

You may also want to understand that Canada isn't at war with Russia. Canadian mercenaries under no flag are in the Ukraine, as are Americans under no flag.
