Currently, head taxes are not widely implemented in the United States, with most states and cities moving away from such taxes due to their unpopularity and legal challenges. However, some local jurisdictions may still have variations of head taxes or similar fees, but they are not a common practice in blue, red, or purple states.
Head taxes, also known as poll taxes, are fees levied on individuals, typically as a requirement for voting or accessing certain services. Their implementation varies significantly across states and cities, particularly in blue, red, and purple areas.
Indeed.

Typical Democrat pontificating about how they are focusing on jobs and yet they pursue policy that chases jobs away. Democrats that arrogant or that stupid?

The proposed $21 per employee corporate "head tax" by Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is intended to generate revenue for city programs, but critics argue it could discourage job creation and investment, likening it to a "poll tax" due to its fixed cost per employee. This tax targets large companies with over 100 employees and aims to address a significant budget shortfall.

Has anyone questioned why there is a 'significant budget shortfall'? Couldn't be Johnson and the city government's poor management could it?
