Gun control advocates were dealt a blow today as an Obama appointment in U.S. District Court Judge Edmond E. Chang, ruled Chicago's ban on gun sales to be unconstitutional, stating that such a ban "went too far." Despite efforts by local law enforcement to stem the tide in crime ridden neighborhoods, Chicago outpaced other larger cities by a great margin in relation to gun violence. In the opinion, he expounded, “Chicago’s ordinance goes too far in outright banning legal buyers and legal dealers from engaging in lawful acquisitions and lawful sales of firearms...”

(Bloomberg) — Chicago's ban on gun sales within the city is unconstitutional, a federal judge ruled, saying the local law on weapons “goes too far.”

The judge delayed the effect of the ruling to give the city time to respond.

Last year, Illinois lawmakers voted to allow public possession of concealed guns in the state.

The move comes amid the news that Chicago cut its homicide total by 18 percent in 2013 after a year of high-profile mayhem that drew national attention.

This is good in a way but the fact remains that the constitutuion forbids federal judges from repealing laws.

Another defeat for Obama's former White House Chief of State - a.k.a. Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel.

If a law is unconstitutional, there is no need for the law to be repealed, simply because the law was unconstitutional to begin with. But hey, tell that to the Supreme Court. The law is unconstitutional, so therefore, it's unconstitutionality repealed it, not the judge himself, per se.

Um no.

Only in the la la land of liberalism could such a law even be hatched.

The lefty dopes apparently assume all those gang members killing one another and various innocent bystanders on a daily basis are doing so with guns they have legally obtained. Absolute stupidity, but par for the course.
