They turned the world Chess Championship into a spectacular event. I remember it was a tense nerve wracking competition with major political Cold War undertones. Anyone interested in the competitions? As for me against my computer I can only get draws with the top level game.

The beauty of the game has sadly been lost now. Engines have turned humans into robotic, positional players, the creativity is gone. There is more beauty at my level which is between 1800-2000 depending on the time restrictions than there is at the GM level which is 2700+.

Oddly enough, the most beautiful games today are blitz because players only have 3-5 minutes total. Classical is more boring and predicable now, the players are too good and they practice against the nearly 4000 level Stockfish engine.

If you want to see the beauty and creativity of the game, watch games from GMs of decades past, Morphy (who played against weaker players because there was no one in his class), my favourite Tal and even Kasparovs games look so much more aggressive and creative than todays players.

One of the memories of my childhood was stepping on the bus and all of us kids were talking about this game. When we kept talking about it as we entered home room class the teacher looked at us from over her glasses and said '' You are excited talking about chess and not football hmmm!'' :):auiqs.jpg:

It's tied after 3 matches. Apparently Ding is always conservative, would rather play for the draw than to go for it.

Tied after 5 matches. Two most populated nations on earth fighting for the belt. Who will win? China or India?

Magnus will probably be motivated to return next year after watching this championship as it has been more passive than even one would expect in the championship.

Ding plays the French Defense again with black, and even gets the Exchange Variation which screams "draw" to anyone familiar with the opening. That was the outcome as Gukesh never had any momentum while playing the white pieces. Another unimaginative draw.

Maybe Trump can drive the funding of chess and reinvigorate the game in the U.S as Bobby Fischer once did. Better than kids playing video games all day, right?

I love to play, but unfortunately I'm not very good.

But I could watch GothamChess or Agadmator's Chess Channel all day and not get board.

I love chess. I tend to play with superior opponents since it’s a good way to learn.

Plus, I’m just not that good compared to most regular players. 😎

The main thing after learning the basics is keep the mind focused on the game. Figuring strategies many moves ahead and how you opponent will react to them is great mind exercise and keeps the brain healthy. I play against the computer MSN Master Chess and it helped me get back a lot of my mental functions after my 8 year long health problems. So far on the top level I can only get draws but I am working on it. The beginners level and mid level is still a challenge for any one.

I’ve learned to go deep. I can look one move ahead now!!!
