Trump has put us back in the position that we were in the ‘20s and ‘30s. We could help a country if we decide to help them. We don’t have to help them if we don’t decide to help them. This year we’re aligned with these guys; this year we’re aligned with that guy.

To a certain degree, I hope the writer is wrong. trump has changed the very character of this country. Putin, and his like, knows trump is a paper tiger bully.

Maybe we can't afford to be the policeman of the world anymore. We're $34 trillion in debt and tens of thousands of good Americans have died all over the world trying to make the world a "safer place".
And it hasn't worked.
And we're tired of that failed shit.
So Trump is taking a different tack. And not a moment too soon.

LOL Bill Kristol.

If it weren't for Trump you idiots would be gunning for Kristol, but since he and Bulwark Quislings help out the progressives, you quote him.

Kristol suffered a terrible malady a few years ago which shrunk both his balls and brain at the same time. And his integrity as well.

Sensible elements of the electorate understand that but if you think for a second that the economic hitmen who dictate what government does are on that same page, you're dead wrong about that. Their livelhood depends upon it nd they'll laugh all the way to the central bank at your expense to achieve their endeavor.

As an aside, the whole ''MAGA'' thing, much to its own detriment, has turned into nothing more than a ladder for the rise of the neo-cons who salivate at the chops for foreign intervention at every opportunity.

It is going to get much worse. NATO does not trust us now. Soon they will see the US as a threat.

Why should we trust NATO?
What have they accomplished since the Soviet Union collapsed?

A Trump hit piece from The Bulwark.com does NOT belong in current events. There is no current event here, right? Downstairs or better yet, the trash can with this thread.

In truth, we funded Europe's socialism abilities since WW 2 as we took care of much of the military aspects. It's like the International Space Station. We paid for much of it and pay for the annual upkeep. The original design of the Orion space capsule and service module had a symmetry. We ended up making a deal for Europe to build the service modules of course paying them for it and it looks horrendous. The service modules are basically the unmanned supply missions to the space station and are upgraded. You would figure Europe would have human rated spacecraft y now.

Isn't Biden's last budget still in effect?

Quote by George Kennan, Director of Policy Planning, US State Department, 1948

"'We have about 50% of the world’s wealth, but only 6.3% of its population. This disparity is particularly great as between ourselves and the peoples of Asia. In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment.'

"'Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity without positive detriment to our national security.'

"'To do so, we will have to dispense with all sentimentality and daydreaming; and our attention will have to be concentrated everywhere on our immediate national objectives.

"'We should cease to talk about vague and unreal objectives such as human rights, the raising of living standards, and democratization. The day is not far off when we are going to have to deal in straight power concepts. The less we are then hampered by idealistic slogans, the better.'"

Europe can pound sand. I'm sick of them sniffling and snubbing their noses at us while relying on us to be their defacto military.

Pound. Sand.
