This is the coolest bird ever!
The first time my husband and I saw them was the first Spring here. We were sitting on our deck at the end of the day, soaking in the sun on some lounge chairs. We have 7 apple trees and several wild plum trees and they were all in blossom and the aroma in the entire yard was so fragrant.....a very sweet smell.
The next thing we knew, over 100 it seemed of these birds flew about 30 feet over our heads to the apple trees in our yard and the pine trees as well.
We said, what the hell is that? Ran and got the camera and took some close ups that were not so clear, but clear enough for me to look through my bird books to find out what they were.
I believe they are the Cedar Waxwing, though they could be the Bohemian Waxwing....they love apple tree blossoms and apples and berries as feed.
A year passed before i saw them again....they came this past spring, during the time the Apple trees were blossoming again! I was thrilled, because i knew this meant that they will be coming every year, at this time!
THEN, in October they stopped by on the way down south and I was able to get some pretty good pics!!!
They are the COOLEST LOOKING BIRDS with a mask, like zoro or a bandit!
here's info on them!
