This shows DHS has done a poor job explaining what is happening in Minneapolis and elsewhere. For example, when Good was shot, DHS said it was clear that Ross acted in self defense despite the fact that the tapes were inconclusive, when the response should have expressed regret and that a full investigation would take place to discern the facts.

The job ICE is doing is essential if we are to continue to discourage illegals from trying to enter the US by demonstrating that even if they are successful, they will not be allowed to stay, but there is another side to this story, that enforcing this law causes very sad outcomes for many illegals who have been here for years.

If ICE stops deporting illegals who have not committed crimes in the US, it will encourage others to try to sneak into our country, but if ICE continues to deport them, it will discourage others from trying to sneak across our borders.

Clearly DHS needs to do a much better job at public relations.
