And a couple of news sites that I still read in towns just over the border are reporting that it is starting to get increasingly violent.

Why are they amassing there?

That seems to be ill-advised. Why would they want to threaten an income stream for their country. If Americans feel threatened, they will quit visiting---and spending $$$. Meh, they've done it before and it has cost them money each time.
