Carole King's 'Tapestry' turns 50 today, one of the greatest records of all time!

It's a beautiful set of music by a real singer songwriter.

Nominated for the R&R HOF. Some complained but I think she is worthy.

one of pop’s greatest declarations of independence.

I remember summer, but before it got really hot, with all the windows open sitting on the porch swing drinking a glass of iced tea and the sterio in the living room blasting that 8 track while I watched the little neighborhood kids play baseball in my back yard, because I had the biggest back yard on the road, and I had a dog that would chase their foul balls and bring them back most of the time. I'm not sure I have felt that sense of well being since.

Ive never related to something so much in my life.

the very first single she ever released

folks think that without James Taylor, there would be no Carole King

it's the other way around, my friends!

i got caught up in the heat of the beat
clapping and dancing
on my feet

in her later years, she became a parody of a pop star

she never topped Tapestry, no one ever could!

When the album's popularity was at its peak, she did a free concert in Central Park. Un. Freakin'. Believable.

I remember thinking at the time she was too old to be so good, and so hip.
