Do you folks actually know why Prince changed his name to a symbol that has no word to describe it?

This is actually pretty funny, and shows you how clever that guy really is..

You see he didn't own that name "Prince", his record company did.

When he changed record companies, they wouldn't allow him to use that name thinking that by destroying his brand, they'd destroy the artist.

Now rather than take a new name, he took a symbol without a word associated with it.

So what did the media do when they encountered this symbol?

They started calling him "the artist formerly known as PRINCE".

He couldn't be sued for the decision of the media to call him that, thus keeping his idenitify by becoming the artist formerly known as HIS KNOWN NAME.

That's genius, folks.
