I find it odd that he was heckled by some members of parliament, while he received a standing ovation by others. I understand that there are divisions in politics, however when a head of state visits to address parliament by invitation, they should make an effort to show some respect.

I don't believe we ever had an incident of this type when a foreign leader addressed congress.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper got a taste of Israel's rough-and-tumble parliament when he was heckled by Arab lawmakers during a speech.

In a speech praising Israel Monday, Harper was condemning efforts to boycott the Jewish state and denouncing people who "disgracefully" call it an apartheid state when two Arab members shouted at him.

Lawmaker Ahmad Tibi screamed "settlements," while a second lawmaker, Talab Abu Arar, then shouted and stormed out of the hall. After the outburst, Harper received a standing ovation from other parliamentarians.

Harper is an unabashed supporter of Israel. Those hecklers did so as Arabs, not as Israeli MKs.

'Most importantly, we must deal with the world as we find it.

“The threats in this region are real, deeply rooted, and deadly and the forces of progress, often anaemically weak.

“For too many nations, it is still easier to scapegoat Israel than to emulate your success.

“It is easier to foster resentment and hatred of Israel’s democracy than it is to provide the same rights and freedoms to their own people.

“I believe the story of Israel is a great example to the world.

“It is a story, essentially, of a people whose response to suffering has been to move beyond resentment and build a most extraordinary society a vibrant democracy a freedom-loving country… with an independent and rights-affirming judiciary, an innovative, world-leading “start-up” nation.

“You have taken the collective memory of death and persecution to build an optimistic, forward-looking land one that so values life, you will sometimes release a thousand criminals and terrorists, to save one of your own.

“In the democratic family of nations, Israel represents values which our government takes as articles of faith, and principles to drive our national life.

“And therefore, through fire and water, Canada will stand with you.

Harper heads the Conservative Party of Canada which is currently in power, which would be equivalent to the Republican party, both parties are strong Israeli allies. Would be nice if Obama had agreed to address the Knesset upon his visit to Israel last year. Regretfully, he declined the invitation. I guess we'll need to wait till we have a GOP leader before another American President addresses Israeli Parliament. There is no question of the GOP's support of Israel.

Typical. Whenever there is a leader who doesn't kiss Palestinian ass, the pro - Palestinians will try to find anything about him/her to make them look bad in some way

Don't blame me. I didn't post all those web sites.

Do you even know or understand what FASCISM and FASCIST stand for, or are you just repeating the same tired phrases ad naeuseum

Personally I think he is more of the New World Order type.

He was sticking with the muslim brotherhood at the time. Now he's courting the Iranians :eusa_eh:

Not to mention Obama's prior attempt to negotiate with the Taliban.

The Regavim movement, an NGO watchdog group for Jewish national property rights, caught Arab MK Ahmed Tibi (Raam-Taal) red-handed in a lie, following his outburst in the middle of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's Knesset speech Tuesday.

During Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's visit to the Knesset, Tibi pointed at fellow Arab MK Taleb a-Sana and shouted in English "there is no water and no electricity in his village. In Syria...maybe."

Regavim uploaded video images of Arara Banegev, the bedouin village in southern Israel where Taleb lives. The video clearly exposes Tibi's blatant lie:

Images of Taleb's house appear in the footage, clearly showing an air-conditioning unit, satellite TV dish, electric lines and an electric meter,

"For MK Tibi's information there's water and electricity, just come visit," reads text in the video.

In response to Tibi's outburst, Netanyahu brought Tibi's recorded position into play, remarking "I haven't found any Arabs who wish to leave the State. Quite the opposite; Arabs gave been very upset at a proposal by Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman that would redraw Israel's boundaries and include many Israeli Arabs in a Palestinian state."

Tibi has in the past announced he will fight the "strange" idea of Israel being a Jewish state, showing support for the Palestinian Authority's refusal to recognize Israel as such.

He was an honorable guest in our country. We thank Canada for its constant support.

The lying Arab MK just couldn't bring us greater joy with their foolish outburst. He now knows how little they really are.
