Canada is bracing for the fallout of President Donald Trump’s escalating trade war, with economists warning of spiking grocery prices, major job losses and even a potential recession if threatened U.S. tariffs take effect.

The United States is Canada’s largest trading partner, accounting for nearly two-thirds of Canadian imports and receiving over 70% of its exports. But under Trump’s new "liberation day" tariffs – 25% on Canadian goods and 10% on energy.

Ottawa now faces an economic gut punch that could ripple across key provinces, industries and its national election campaign.

Have they even called the White House and said "Hey, can we sit down and talk about these tariffs?"

Obviously, a lot of their reaction is drama to rev up public disapproval on both sides of the border.

You drop your tariffs, and I suspect we will drop ours.....You decide how you want it Canada.

We face the same shit fuckup.

Any company that relies on trade is going to be fucked.

Don't worry about Canada, we are strong!

If you try to invade, we have more undercover cops per capita than any nation since East Germany, and have you see these guys? They will protect our nation!
Why would we invade Canada? For what?
All this because you resent us charging you as much as you charge us for goods?
In this game of chess, what if Trump's next move is to go $0 tariffs. Is Canada willing to make that move also? Who ends up winning if Trump makes that happen?

There is not one chance in hell of that happening.

That sounds like a dare.

it's far more the other way 'round Shocked one.

I live on a border state with you folks, we're seeing record amounts of bad news cross into our country

these are mainly S Americans who have the $$$'s to get into Canada before crossing over to the USofA

WE need to protect OUR nation from this, which takes some cooperation from Canada

Then why do you rely on our military to defend your borders?

Look Ace, if we come for you, you will never know it until it is too late. We could defeat all of Canada in a day. If you were any kind of friends, you wouldn't be charging us huge tariffs in the first place while whining because we charge you a little.

YOu are insane. There is not one chance in hell of that happening.

Famous last words when predicting Trump's chances of winning in 2016 nine years ago and last year beating Joe or Kammy Harris. Will Tards ever learn that Trump is a mold-breaker and trend-setter, not a follower. He lives to break up the status quo.
