I like the vines and the flowers. They're taking over part of the deck I seldom use but it looks lopsided from the front. I've killed them off several times and emptied that side of the deck but they always grow on clumps. I want it even all the way around. Fruitless?

For wandering vines and flowers, I always used kite string to "guide" them where I wanted them to go.

Tie the string from point A to point B and then untangle some of the vine and wrap it around the string.
Lightly tie the end of the vine onto the string so it doesn't fall off and unravel.

I'd do this for a few weeks until it was long enough to go across the whole string setup. Then it would just fill in the gaps on its own.

Look at Star Jasmine or Confederate Jasmine instead.
