You know, I'm still wondering why people put their lives on Facebook.
Me? Yeah, I have a page, but I only use it to keep in touch with friends and family, I don't tell everything that is going on in my life.
Why? I like my privacy and don't like having propaganda shoved down my throat.
By the way, did you see the way the stock market tanked today because of Facebook?
facebook is dead.
dead to the nth degree.
it will become a semi-gathering hole for the rest of it's life but glory days are gone.
i run an online radio station (music only, no politics) and the base gameplan from FB is:
I create a page and get people to like/follow it.
i send out messages to people who like my page.
a small fraction of my followers will actually see the post based on whatever algorithm they're running that day.
if i want more of my audience to see it, i pay to "boost it".
boost #'s are usually pretty high even for say $20 so i've done it several times.
i never hit any # they gave me. even minimums.
a year ago i could post the story of the singer for wu tang passing away and it would have gotten 5k views. last week, 900.
a year ago i could have boosted a story for an article i wrote and gotten 3k views. now on day 3 of my band review i boosted, 49. 3 days ago i boosted a post and this am in checking:
"Your Ad is Approved
Your ad just started running, so you don't have any results yet. When you do, you'll see them here."
just started. 3 days into it. no results. nothing and nowhere to really follow up with facebook and even when you do find 'em, 70% of the time they blame you.
so i have to work my ass off to get "followers" to like my page then i have to pay to reach them and now even that is busted. 4k followers and so far in 3 days 49 people have seen the post.
on my own posts as well as putting out popular stories, traffic is just dead compared to a year ago. whatever they did to change what we see in our feed has really jacked with their revenue stream and now they have been busted not caring if one side stole private information in 2012 to not even knowing it was stolen by this group in 2016.
do you feel safe on facebook?
nothing else out there even close so for now it will just be a "social network" that's not very sociable. we won't likely see a myspace to facebook haul cause there simply is nowhere to go and social networking is done as a fad.
