A great many Religious folk, from most of the mainstream religions of the world, perceive that homosexuality is a filthy, disgusting, unclean and unholy practice and lifestyle; an aberration before God, Man and Nature; evil, emasculating; detrimental to the vitality and martial vigor of any People or Nation; a licentiousness and debauchery that brings down Kingdoms.
And, when the vast majority of any given People or Nation are heterosexual, these beliefs cannot help but color and strongly influence the law of any country; at least until such time as the majority sheepishly cave-in, for a while, to the tyranny of the minority in this context.
We (the US, and much of The West) have only recently and very imperfectly legislated a range of rights for Homosexual Folk but one cannot wave a Magic Gay Rights Fairy Wand over the land and expect ancient (thousands of years old) disgust and prejudices to evaporate and for the now-brainwashed population to reemerge with a Rainbow Burst of Unicorns and Happy-Happy Faces Tinking Happy Tawts.
Some countries have decided to continue to take a stand against such practices and behaviors and lifestyles.
I really can't fault other countries for that, in the final analysis, so long as it's not carried to extremes of active persecution or excessive punishments, such as we see in Iran.
I'm not too keen on the LGBT Movement Folk myself, but I have better things to do than to worry about who is sleeping with who, and I don't go out of my way to either help nor hinder them.
Personally, despite having a handful of colleagues, friends or relatives whom I care for, who qualify as such - as a bloc - I think they're more of a bad joke and a pain in the ass than anything else.
And - as a bloc - they ARE a pain in the ass.
Any time that the Gay Rights Movement sees an obstacle nowadays, they cry Wolf and Unfair and Let's-Get-'Em, and they expect the entire world to snap to attention and obey their desires.
It seems a good guess that much of the rest of the world is becoming bloody sick and tired of this minority-organized, government-supported, tyrannical sort of organized rant, and that the world grows weary of this much noise being made by (and attention given to) such a small minority percentage of the population, in complete disproportion to their numbers and their relative importance in the grander scheme of things.
Society tends to have its own kind of macro-level Triage for such things, and, in the long run, Gays aren't exactly at the top of the Priority List, or the Reproductive Stack.
This recent-years trend of Common Folk to dismiss the Gays in irritation is yet another example of Donor and Supporter and Bystander Exhaustion and Intransigence, brought on by pushing them too hard, for too long.
This pushing - years of tiresome and endless bitching and moaning - is resulting in a state of affairs in which a considerable percentage of the population-at-large is increasingly telling these perpetual complainers to shut-the-**** up.
This seems to be one of those occasions where the Gay Rights Movement Folk need to restrain themselves and mind their own country's business before they over-extend themselves one time too many and become a laughing stock...
Which would be an unfortunate outcome after all the progress they've made in recent years.
They won't close their pie-holes over this one, mind you, but I foresee a time when they look back in retrospect and wish that they had, once they fail on this one and end-up becoming a laughing stock to much of the rest of the world which has been following this.
Truth be told, they can't help themselves - they just don't know when to stop - they're incapable of restraining themselves on this one - and it is going to end badly for them - an Epic Fail.
