California plans to revoke 17,000 commercial driver’s licenses given to immigrants after discovering the expiration dates went past when the drivers were legally allowed to be in the U.S., state officials said Wednesday.

The announcement follows harsh criticism from the Trump administration about California and other states granting licenses to people in the country illegally. The issue was thrust into the public’s consciousness in August, when a tractor-trailer driver not authorized to be in the U.S. made an illegal U-turn and caused a crash in Florida that killed three people.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Wednesday that California’s action to revoke these licenses is an admission that the state acted improperly even though it previously defended its licensing standards. California launched its review of commercial driver’s licenses it issued after Duffy raised concerns.

“After weeks of claiming they did nothing wrong, Gavin Newsom and California have been caught red-handed. Now that we’ve exposed their lies, 17,000 illegally issued trucking licenses are being revoked,” Duffy said, referring to the state’s governor. “This is just the tip of iceberg. My team will continue to force California to prove they have removed every illegal immigrant from behind the wheel of semitrucks and school buses.”

I don’t see how any sane person can think it’s OK to not know how to read English, to not know our traffic laws, to not understand English.....All while behind the wheel of a truck weighing thousands of pounds while going 60mph+ down a public road.

Wow! California actually did something right?

It's hard to believe but Democrats are still yearning for the good old slavery days. They love that cheap labor that allows them to park their fat asses in a chair all day.

Many states quit issuing them in Feb, 2025 but there could be as many as 600K issued up to then.

It's a issue long in the making.

That's true. I remember when they started, they only left foreign drivers drive a couple miles into our country then they had to give it over to a gringo. There was a question about the dogshit condition their trucks were in as well (not able to pass US safety and environmental standards). Big business slavers will take it as far as we let them.

Containerized Freight prices have risen 28.84% this month. They are still down for the year due to the tariff nonsense though. I can tell you that I am worried about GDP based on how smooth shipping has been this fall. Normally we are fighting tooth and nail to get our materials this time of year with Walmart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot, Costco, etc taking up all the container and ship space for 4th quarter. Not so this year. Smooth as silk so far and cheap. Freight rates are still way down after this months rise in prices.

You didn't seem worried that the Schumer Shutdown cost us 11 Billion though did you?
