Wrong. Judges can throw out bail and just say he's a risk of flight in serious charge cases. He will be tried for 6 counts of Murder and the evidence is on video showing him driving over everyone.

Two issues usually come up at bond hearings. Flight risk and danger to community.

Still, under the circumstances, $5 million is an impossible amount for somebody like him, even with a bondsman.

I watched the bail hearing...
Once again the prosecutor was ill prepared to present the known facts about the case. The judge was better prepared than the Prosecutor. He actually had witness statements from sheriffs.

The only thing the Prosecutor did was whine about how he's a bad guy...took 8 minutes to read off the guys past charges and current charges in his history including sex predator registry violation, and other vehicular attempted homicide/assault charges.

So then the judge had to collate the history in a usable fashion as to assigning bail and why it was going to be high.
(Because the Prosecutor's office didn't do that)

Brooks sat there during the proceedings pretending to be sobbing for 15 minutes solid...but when he stood up his mask was bone dry...not a tear stain one...not a drop of moisture on it. He flat out was faking it.

So the commissioner/judge had no other recourse except give the poorly prepared DA their request for this child rapist, police fighting, girlfriend beating thug to have a 5 million dollar cash bail be set.

5million cash means just that...5 million in cash. And even if he somehow gets that much posted...he still will be on level 4 surveillance while free on bond. Meaning ankle bracelet, no intoxicants, no driving, no going anywhere, no leaving the state, no weapons or anything that can be used as a weapon in his possession or immediate vicinity at any time. (Chains, kitchen knives, bow and arrows, firearms or sharpened toothbrushes)
