Britain is NOT on the verge of collapse. Some EU countries are but Britain is not one of them. In fact, they are doing better than most EU countries. Britain were smart enough to stay out of the Eurozone. It's the Eurozone countries that are having the worst of it, except Germany and France - they are both reasonably stable.
