The most painful part of prop 8 was the fact it was NOT voted on by politicians but rather through direct democracy, yet progressives didn't like the outcome and now say "**** you democracy, I believe _________ therefore it should be in place."

It's America, daveman. We have to let people coordinate their political feelings with what is best for them and pray that those in charge will do justly with mercy and humbly communicate their findings to their fellow Americans.

The press used to let the leaders speak.

I've read more than 10 books about the genocide and they're all filled with speculation...

I wouldn't even be comfortable labeling Pol Pot a communist, nor even a socialist...

Totalitarianism would be accurate but there is really no word to describe what happened. It's not clear what his motive or intent was and usually there is a premise behind such actions yet there is none behind Pol Pot.

I suppose that's what made him so fascinating to me.
