Way i see it is simple, when the Soviet Union went and Gorgachev was in charge things could have been so different with a real new world order built on mutual respect, problem was what we call the West headed by the US didn't look at it that way, they saw themselves as the winners and could do what they wanted, there was no counter balance that the Soviet Union provided to Western arrogance, Gorbachev was a well meaning but naive man that paved the way for that drunken Clown Yeltsin and all we have seen since, to me the real start of WW3 was the NATO illegal attack on Yugoslavia and the fragmentation in the Balkans.

Only "Soviets" see in the horror situation of the former Yugoslavia (people who lived since centuries door by door started to murder each other because they had been members of different ethnic groups) the cause in an intervention by the Western world. But this was no cause. The Western world tried to help. That was not a NATO mission but an UN mission. The situation had been damn chaotic so I don't know what really had happened in details. But main problem had been the Serbs and the Albanians.

The strange thing: When I was a very little boy an old German soldier who had been in World War 2 in this region told me what will happen there in Yugoslavia when Tito will die. And more or less this was exactly what happend there in this disaster. Since this day I ask myselve why an old soldier was able to know this but no one in the international politics knew this. I on my own was totally surprised because 1 or 2 years before I had been a very short time in Yugoslavia. What I saw was a wonderful country with friendly people.
