I will give Trump an A for effort but it takes two to tango. Perhaps Putin will present some threat of trying to hurt Trump politically to discourage Trump from applying a tariff when they meet. I think would be a bad ploy by him as Trump holds the cards and it is Russia, China and N Korea vs the rest of the Western World.

I really could care less about Ukraine. It would make me happy to see them never join NATO, demilitarize their border with Russia, accept Russian demands for territory. Anyone who thinks Ukraine is walking out of this with getting all of their territory back is delusional. This whole thing was provoked by NATO and Ukraine. Russia isn't innocent, but it is clear who is the stronger of Russia and Ukraine. Ukraine lost 20% of its territory more or less. That's a huge loss.

Russia took heavy losses and retreated to the other border and took maybe 20% of Ukraine with more heavy losses.

3-years later Russia knows that every meter captured would be paid for in blood.

Its called "the Law of Diminishing Returns", Russia doesn't want to pay for more territory, so take the peace deal and call it a win.
