Leading Brexit campaigner Boris Johnson says he won't run for prime minister

"I am very surprised #BorisJohnson ran the campaign to get us out of the EU and didn't have the guts to re establish the country! Odd move," tweeted entrepreneur Mark Wright.

Labour MP Jo Stevens responded with disgust, describing Johnson as "narcissism personified."
"Cameron & #BorisJohnson wrecked the UK. And now neither will take any responsibility," she tweeted.

Everybody is talking about UK Home Secretary Theresa May as a possible next PM.

Whoever is PM next will have a very short tenure.

Johnson is prudent to want to be second-in-line as the emotion will be spent by then and he can step up to the plate in confidence that he'll have time to make some sore-needed corrections.

Yes.

The important thing is that Brexit won! :2up:

Yes, now the EU can get on with forming a closer union without the UK's interference.

Turning down the PM job is the smartest thing he ever did. He sudden realized the kind of impossible job the next PM will face. If he doesn't carry out the will of the people, he's toast. If he does it will create a financial disaster for the nation and he's toast.

What would an islamonazi catholic coloniser and invader know about what Boris intended. We in the UK knew he was not going to run for P.M., he was the Captain of EXIT and did a top class job, leaving the work to be done by the next leader. Cameron stated that he would be resigning this summer after winning the last election. The next leader was not agreeable to the public as much so they did not put themselves forward to lead the exit. I see that the EU is starting to unravel as many members are taking Britain's lead and wanting out of the neo Marxists control and to reclaim their countries.

When you know what you are babbling about come back take ne of ignore and I will educate you on Europe.

And we all know that experts are usually wrong, and the people have spoken and shown what true democracy is. We will now fight to keep Britain afloat and doing good. Start rebuilding our industries that the EU have destroyed to show we are still the workshops of the world.

Yeah, and it may well be that this leader will be those one who supported the Remain campaign. It is really a good job.

Absolutely!

The 2-3 nations remaining in The EU when all the looming in/out votes are over will certainly need to hug each other tightly! Alas, The European Union is now a zombie union. But it's a slow process and sure to be fun to watch. Maybe someday a movie!

There won't be any in/out referendums. There will be new entrants. The EU, without the UK ,will be able to resume the process to achieve the goal that was intended by the founders. Allowing the UK to join was a costly mistake, but all is well now. De Gaulle was right about the UK, by the way.

The number one objective of the Treaty of Rome:

Treaty establishing the European Economic Community

HIS MAJESTY THE KING OF THE BELGIANS, THE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY, THE PRESIDENT OF THE FRENCH REPUBLIC, THE PRESIDENT OF THE ITALIAN REPUBLIC, HER ROYAL HIGHNESS THE GRAND DUCHESS OF LUXEMBOURG, HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN OF THE NETHERLANDS,

"DETERMINED to establish the foundations of an ever closer union among the European peoples,"

By the time Britain gets out of the EU and straightens out the mess created by Brexit, there will be a reverse migration of refugees primarily to Syria. 70% of refugees eventual return to their home country. Unlike immigrants, they didn't choose to leave their homes, they had to.
