I suspect that for the majority of border agents, they will do just as various celebrities have done when they claimed that they would leave the country if Trump won in 2016, nothing.
They are paid fairly well for what they do, and no doubt have families to feed.

What the general public doesn't grasp is that once you have a one-party only government, you've just ended political and public voices of opposition and therefore have ended any sense of Democracy. To have a Democracy, you have to allow opposition voices and votes.
The Communists in North Korea, convinced their people that Communism would be good for them and the government would take care of them and ensure they would have daily rice and beef. Once in total power, because they convinced their people how great it would be, they adopted the official title for their country as the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea," and millions starved and still suffer with trouble obtaining food and have absolutely NO freedoms at all and anyone that puts any name on a ballot other than its reigning leader, well, they disappear.
