But 18 U.S.C. § 922(g), makes it unlawful for any person to ship, transport, receive, or possess firearms or ammunition, if they are an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance (as defined in section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act, codified at 21 U.S.C. § 802);
In other words, merely being in possession of a firearm or ammunition while having used a controlled substance within the last 12 months, is a federal crime.

And yes, an "unlawful user" would include marijuana, since it's still a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act. It doesn't matter if your state says it's ok, it's still a federal crime if you possess a firearm and are under the influence or in possession.
