Bohdan Shevchuk is commander of the 59th Ukrainian Brigade, that holds a certain front line directly west to the city of Donetsk.
He is sending everyone to the front lines and keeps calling for more. Prisoners without any training, reconnaissance units, it doesn´t matter for him. They end up dying because of his orders that do not benefit the troops. There are many complains, one has made it to Facebook. A medic, Kateryna Polischtschuk, directly addresses President Zelensky and askes him to sack Shevchuk after investigations took place to no avail:
"Dear Volodymyr Oleksandrovich Zelensky! For more than a year, I was in the combat zone side by side with the 59th Infantry Brigade named after Yakov Handzyuk. During our cooperation, the brigade was commanded by the famous Sukharevsky Vadim Olegovich and the military professional Stetsenko Maksym Oleksandrovych. But due to the "brilliant" position decisions and the family ties of the top military leadership with Bohdan Volodymyrovych Shevchuk, the latter was appointed to the position of commander of the 59th OMPBr from April 2024.
Since thousands of military personnel still remain to perform combat tasks in the combat zone under the leadership of Shevchuk, I ask you, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief, to pay attention and carry out an official inspection on the facts of criminal orders, deliberate negligence, disregard for the life and health of personnel, actions that led to the deaths of a large number of military personnel, including those from high leadership positions, selfishness, blind careerism, the removal of all "disagreeing" commanders, the suppression of morale and the humiliation of personnel by complete indifference to the main goal of the military personnel and him as a commander in a war with the enemy.
Due to Shevchuk's inhumane and unprofessional attitude, I am forced to stop cooperation with this famous team, and not everyone has this opportunity - to resist criminal orders that are aimed exclusively at obtaining additional stars for this person.
I ask you to take measures and remove from the making of important military decisions people who are not interested in preserving personnel, completing tasks and winning. Military honor and the honor of an officer are not empty words. At least they shouldn't be."
