Why are they waging a war on the poor , and working folks? How is it even legal for them to violate federal tax laws? Oh wait, laws mean nothing to the left if they get in the way of them screwing over the little guy.

Trump's new law applies to federal income tax. Nothing says states and localities cannot tax tips. It's DEMs being DEMs.

States have no control over federal taxes and Trump stole the idea from Paul.

WV has a state tax on tips........

Its structurally impossible for such a thing to happen. The OP is, as always, a lie.

So Trump should not have suggested it in the federal code because Paul recommended it? 😂

WTF?

Addressing the article. The article noted Harris stole it from Trump. I noted Trump stole it from Paul.

Anything on topic? Any comment on Dimwinger Givernors screwing the little guy just because they have terminal TDS?

Democrats don't give a shit about the poor and working class. Or democracy or the rule of law obviously. That legislation was passed in congress and signed into law by the president and the lawless thug Dems just ignore it.

States That Must Still Tax Tip Income (No Current Exemption)

These states do not have laws exempting tip income from state income tax for 2025. They require tipped income be included in taxable income on your state return — even though federal law may allow a deduction on the federal return: MooLoo

  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Georgia
  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Illinois — explicitly opted out of the federal no-tax-on-tips rule, so tips are fully taxable at the state level. cddavidsmeyer.org
  • Indiana
  • Kentucky
  • Louisiana
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • New Mexico
  • New York
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee (on dividends/interest, not wages)
  • Vermont
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia
  • Wisconsin
➡️ These states either decoupled from federal changes or have not enacted tip-specific exemptions yet, meaning tips count as taxable income on your state return. MooLoo

States That May Exempt Tip Income Due to Federal Conformity

These states generally base their taxable income on federal taxable income and are likely to incorporate the federal deduction for tips unless they enact laws to decouple. In 2025, they may allow the federal tip deduction to reduce state tax on tips: Thomson Reuters Tax

  • Iowa
  • Montana
  • North Dakota
  • Oregon
  • South Carolina (depending on how and when conformity updates apply)
➡️ In these states, if the state tax base starts with federal taxable income and follows federal changes automatically, then a qualified federal tip deduction can reduce or eliminate state tax on tips in 2025 without additional legislation. Thomson Reuters Tax

⚠️ However, this isn’t guaranteed for every state unless the legislature explicitly affirms it. Even in conformity states, tax departments can choose timing and specific adjustments.

Democrats do not enforce federal tax laws. They can have whatever state laws they want. This is a nothing burger.

OP is a liar, quoting “pajama media”.
for federal income taxes, New Yorkers can already get the “no tax on tips” benefit starting with tax year 2025 (claimed when you file your 2025 federal return in early 2026). It applies nationwide; your state can’t stop the federal deduction.
