Liberal policies and affirmative action programs are the reason for social mobility in this country, especially among Americans that got left behind.

Conservative policies have given us wage stagnation, pollution and billionaires.

If that be the case, then can we not expect more Black Republicans in the next 20 years? The fallacy in the Congressmans thinking was that liberal policies and affirmative action programs actually lift people up the economic ladder. I have a feeling that over time millions of successful Blacks will realize that it was their hard work that gave them success, not liberal Democrats. Ergo, an increase in Black Republicans.

What helped African Americans out of poverty was the opportunity for advancement through Affirmative Action. That program required that minorities have the same opportunities as everyone else.

The program worked, minorities were given access to better schools and better career opportunities.

Their own hard work came into play once they actually got those opportunities. The door was held open to them finally and they wisely made the most from that opportunity.

Had the conservatives gotten their way minorities would still be the lower class and wouldn't have the same opportunities they have today.

Conservatives have been trying to eliminate Affirmative Action for decades and now that they have control of the supreme court, they've actually been able to remove some Affirmative Action laws. Especially from colleges.
