Higher taxes on businesses also impact the value of their stocks/bonds and dividends paid to their shareholders, reducing value of IRAs and 401Ks, again passing such onto others.
2) Government revenue cuts are only half the equation. They should be balanced by reductions in government spending. Unfortunately, too many "legislators" would rather continue to spend, spend more, and rack up debt, than be fiscally responsible and keep expenses in line with, or below, revenues(taxes).

1) It is a way to measure Wealth.
