Murders in DC peaked in 2023, began falling in 2024, and have been steadily falling through July 2025. There were 96 murders through July 2025 in DC, down 11 percent relative to the same timeframe in 2024, down 34 percent relative to the first 7 months of 2023, and exactly the same number as was reported through July 2019. (UPDATE 8/18/2025: I initially used DC’s publicly reported homicide figure for 2024 in this graph to calculate a rate of 27.5, but I have updated it to use the FBI’s murder rate of 25.5 to make it apples-to-apples).

They discovered that the police have been fudging the crime statistics.

The favorite way was ignoring teen criminal statistics and turning felonies into misdemeanors.

Actually, in 2023 the number of violent crimes so disturbed the incompetent mayor and chief of police that they decided to lie about it. Murder became accidental death and a new category was created for armed robbery. It became taking without permission.

Every judge that releases a violent criminal should be suspended for a year. If there is a consistent pattern of releasing violent criminals, they should be barred from the courtroom permanently.

They should be jailed for a year so they get to spend a bit of quality time with those that society suffer from. It might open their eyes wide, and other orifices.

It's impossible to reduce crime if the judges keep releasing criminals onto our streets.

Using the excuse that the teens involved in the assault of a former DOGE technician weren't adults and allowed them to be released simply with home incarceration and allowed them in one case to get away with just wearing an ankle bracelet.

This is the reason Trump decided to federalize the D.C. police and cut down on crime.

Last week was the first time in decades that there wasn't a murder in Washington D.C. Meanwhile, liberal activist judges are doing everything they can to stand in the way of the Trump Administration.

I warned a while back, this was liken to the Devil's advocate movie which was said to be loosly based on Sorros.
Judges should be under yearly or bi- yearly reviews, releases scrutinized and briefly described reasoning with the records of offenses comitted after their release, then if there is an issue with these judgments they should lose their robes or worse be legally responsible especially if further investigations shows a compromised, biased, or corrupted Judge.

Regarding the conflicting judge in the assassination plot, he was supposed to recuse himself from the case, the fact he did not and this was the result makes his failure to recuse crime even worse and easier to convict the judge and at minimum remove him.
