Work visas are limited. Do you know what the quota limit is for Mexico? Do Mexicans applying for a work visa have to wait 10 years because of long waiting lists before getting a work visa?

A long time ago, George W Bush proposed dramatically increasing temporary work visas for Mexicans to solve our illegal immigrant problem. Where workers can come in daily or weekly or a harvest season, legally. They can come here and go home as they please, as long as they are working on a legal work visa.

The positives to once called illegals, being given temporary legal, work visas is all the employers and businesses hiring them, would have to meet their state laws for employment, such as a minimum wage, TINs, etc....

And what this does is give these employers no real advantage over hiring a temporary immigrant worker (once called by us, an illegal) vs. an American wanting and applying, for the job.

It also would end the need to bring their families here, because they can go home, and back and forth while on the working visa....

And our control on knowing and tracking who is here or not is a plus as well...

Also, we would be able to raise and lower temporary work visas based on the economy and unemployment percentages....

There are negatives too....so it would need to be weighed, good vs bad before passing legislation like this...

as a negative example, having a flow of temporary workers could keep the minimum wage at a lower dollar amount longer and suppress worker shortage pressures if just Americans are filling the jobs, that would force businesses to raise the amount of money workers are paid...benefiting American workers but also with inflationary pressure, possibly raising prices for us.

1) Illegals cost American taxpayers a net of $160 billion a year

2) They lower the caliber of public schools in the working class areas they settle, thus reducing the chances for a smart, hard-working working class kid to excel and win scholarships to college.

3) Because the caliber of the schools drop, the property values of the working class - who dutifully paid the mortgage on their modest homesr .- drop as well.

4) Because they are poorly educated, they take the jobs and thus suppress the wages of poorly educated Americans, who then go in welfare instead of working these jobs.

5) They add to the number of violent criminals in the country.

I cut my finger on a sharp knife - bad - and went to the local ER a few blocks away. The room was filled with poor Hispanics. When I inquired as to what the cost could be and was told that it could be as high as $5,000, I had to leave. I was on Obamacare at the time and the deductible was $6,000.

So, I had to drive to the Urgent Care in my network 10 miles away, with the finger still bleeding badly, while the illegal aliens got free care in the ER which my taxes paid for.

Yep, they get free treatment and the people who are legal and do pay for insurance get screwed. Its very wrong. Same thing is happening with car insurance. I pay full coverage for our cars and the rates keep going up while the illegals cruise around without insurance with no penalties. So, my cars are paid off and I may just quit paying.
